Haymarket Theatre

The house in Chawton is regarded as Jane's literary home where she led a quieter life and resumed her writing. Often Jane would shop in Alton where her brother Henry, a London banker, had a branch bank at No 10 High Street.

Hotel History
Opening as The Red Lion Hotel in 1603, having previously been an inn and coaching post, it is probably the oldest establishment in Basingstoke with a 400 year history of catering for travellers.
Today The Red Lion continues its tradition of providing an excellent service to travellers and the local people of Basingstoke.
Good British food, with the addition of many familiar dishes from the Mediterranean, fine wines, good ale and an unsurpassed welcome from the Red Lion Team. The Red Lion combines a traditional hotel restaurant and bar, offering bar lunches, snacks or afternoon tea and full a la carte dinner service, with providing modern facilities for corporate guests in our conference rooms.
